Speaker: Volker Hochschild, University of Tuebingen, GermanySince the city development worldwide is extremely fast, city planners are lacking in planning relevant information. This information is necessary for a sustainable and environmentally friendly further development of the cities, but also for estimations of global warming investment costs as well as for material flow estimations (waste, drinking water demand, wastewater disposal, energy consumption, etc.), which are usually not provided by outdated masterplans. For that reason, so called Urban Structure Types (USTs) are derived from high resolution remote sensing data.
