Speaker: Zaib Un nisa, University of Southampton, United KingdomThe winter of 2024 in Great Britain brought unusual weather patterns, characterized by rising temperatures, excessive rainfall, and a prolonged winter, disrupting the growth of winter cereal crops. Unlike studies focused on drought and heat stress, this research examines the impact of rising winter temperatures and excessive rainfall on crops and how these changes can be monitored early in crop development. The study analyzed rainfall and temperature anomalies in 2024 using ERA5 monthly aggregates, comparing the winter conditions of 2024 to a 30-year average (19902020).
