Speaker: Saira Batool, Centre for Integrated Mountain Research university of the Punjab, PakistanLand use and land cover (LULC) changes have significant impacts on various environmental factors, including soil moisture and vegetation dynamics. These changes are especially pronounced in arid regions, Multan District in Pakistan, where rapid urbanization can lead to substantial environmental shifts. Currently two-decade period (2003-2023), the study examines the fluctuations in LULC, soil moisture, and vegetation indices using remote sensing technologies and Geographic Information Systems (GIS). Using supervised classification approaches, LULC classification was carried out using Landsat and Sentinel-2 data, classifying the land into classes such as agricultural land, urban areas, water bodies, and barren terrain.
