Speaker: Lijun Zuo, Aerospace Information Research Institute, Chinese Academy of Sciences, International Research Center of Big Data for Sustainable Development Goals, ChinaThe rapid development of global urbanization has led to substantial encroachment on agricultural land, as well as altering the structure of agriculture, posing a severe threat to food security. While cropland loss to urban land has been well studied, the change of peri-urban agriculture structure due to urbanization is lack of concern. Taking the mega city Beijing as an example, this study explores the dynamic changes in the structure of peri-urban agricultural land along the urban-rural gradient during the urbanization based on remote sensing technology.
